[Travelling] 1st to 5th August

1st August: Lotte World
My I-have-no-idea-how-many-time at an amusement park le (: This time is Lotte World for the 3rd time!

Flume ride >> Sinbad adventures >> Pharoah’s Fury >> Comet Express >> Atlantis Adventure >> Hot air balloon

Though I was fine the waiting time for the rides as I already expected it from a Korea amusement park, this is really the longest I have to wait for rides >.< At least I got to take 6 rides… not bad ~~

2nd August: Myeongdong

As usual we change our plans around, the rest wasn’t interested in going to Entertainment hopping and I have been there before.  So we decided to go to Myeongdong as we needed to change money and  there is sales too ((:

The rest left for Dongdaemun while Fang and I went to Shinsaegae at Myeongdong. Shinsaegae really reminds me of Singapore! 7 more days ~~~~ I even found Dean & Deluca <3<3<3 Bread for dinner once again ^^ & cakes for desert ^^

3rd August: Tongin Market & Gangnam Underground Shopping

We started the day with a meal at Tongin Market. My 3rd and final time there le >.< I will miss there a lot. We should totally have it in Singapore. It will definitely fly. Singapore got enough food for people to choice from. We find that it is a good way for people to try and error to see if they like the food and will eat it in the future. Maybe I should set up a stall in SG 😛

After that we headed to Gangnam Underground  Shopping, since none of us have ever been there throughout our entire exchange haha! Okie lah ~ got some stuff are cheaper, but the designs there are mostly white or monotone… after a few turns, it really seem the same. But I did find nice earings((: clip on earings, first time for me!

2014-08-03 19.19.53

We had a bit of difficulty finding Ippudo Ramen shop but we found it!! Not really a fan of ramen so it taste okie for me bah 😛

4th August: Brunch @ HUFS & Seoul Library

We went back to Hankuk University for our last brunch in South Korea. Super nice Murmur Special Brunch! After that I headed to Seoul Metropolitan Library at City Hall. As the library was not fully opened, I took pictures and went to the building around the library. Mostly office and some ambassies, but haven found Singapore’s one yet.

5th August: Insadong, Bukchon Hanok Village & Chicago Musical

We got to eat the Famous Ginseng Chicken near Gyeongbokgung, but I have no idea what the name of the shop is. && I got to meet Zhao Qi!!! Haha. How big is Seoul man?!?!? Man ~~ envy her, she went on many many trips this summer that she had 5 wardrobe makeovers 😛

We finished the Ginseng Chicken, like the whole bowl, even the soup! The restaurant is really big and can cater to a whole lot of ppl.

1

After that we tried to walked to Insadong, but lost our way and make one whole round around Gwanghwamun Square. Bukchon Hanok village is just a small area, smaller than Jeonju. I still like Jeonju more as they separate the commercial and private area more distinctly, while Bukchon kind of have the commercial shops very near the private residences. Andong was a complete different experience as it was not commercialized at all.

“My family house is here!!!” hahahahahahaha (:

2

3

4

5

6

The private residences in Bukchon must be very expensive as it is so well-kept and yet have modern aspects to the house.

7

Went to Insadong to shop for some more stuff for souvenirs. Then we went to O’sulloc cafe and rest for the afternoon. After that Zhuwei and I headed to D Cube Arts Center for Chicago musical. By the time we got to D Cube, we got a shock when we took the lift as there was no button. Then we found the machine outside and we were in awe. Hahaha!

8

It was a nice  way to end my musical experience in Korea. A Jazz Musical!!! The stage is also different as it was a Jazz band  and they took the whole rear of the stage. Though the musical is in Korean, I surprisingly understand what was going on. This just proves that my body language skills are not that bad 😛 (self-praise! haha!)

9

10

With Chicago I have watch 3 of the longest running Broadway musicals, including Phantom of the Opera(Original Cast) Cats(Original Cast) ^^ Happy_gurl_92

[Travelling] 28th to 31st July

28th July: Market O Cafe

Wei Fang and I met up with Sim Ai and her boyfriend to have brunch at Market O Cafe. Wei Fang has been mentioning about it since before we left our dorm for Seoul. The whole menu looked so delicious, we wanted to eat almost everything but it was too much. We only ordered a brunch meal, Super Benedict Brunch, as it was very filling. Fang and I bought 3 pieces of brownies and their sesame bread back for dinner, as we saw a lot ahjummas in the store eating it for tea time 😛

1

2
Headed to Myeongdong after that to grab some cosmetic stuff and more Market O brownies as there was a slight sales at Olive Young. As the brownies were kind of heavy, we decided to head back and start packing some of our stuff so that we can gauge how much space we are left with.

29th July: Rail Biking

Yeah! I finally got to do rail bike and we even got it on discount 😛 haha ((: I think because there was 4 of us it was much easier to ride. The couples in front of us were riding quite slowly and relaxing, so had to ride really slowly and took turns to ride. It was run and worth the money, though I think the scenery here is not that fantastic 😛

We ate chimaek, another like a finally 😛 Though I am craving for Outdark >.< haha! After our meal, we headed to emart to get our last amount of groceries. I got to buy my WATERMELON!!!! hehehehe ^^ Bought French Cafe coffee to bring back, along with the super load amount of brownies.

31st July: Riding bicycle @

[Travelling] 24th to 27th July

24th July: Carribean Bay

Yeah, finally a water theme park in Korea (:

Only managed to take like 2-3 photos, at the entrance of Carribean Bay, as there was no way I was going to take my camera into the water area. haha. Carribean Bay was really fun. Doreen and I took almost all the rides, including the Aqualoop!! We didn’t stay long as it took 2 hours to get back. The next time I go back to Korea, I am definitely going back to Carribean bay ^^

1

25th July: Old Seoul Station, Gwacheon Science Museum & Garousu-gil

Decided to go on a mini adventure on my own(:

Went to see the Old Seoul Station, but it was not open so I couldn’t see the interior of the station >.< I also saw a makeshift noraebang for elderly to have fun and entertain themselves for the afternoon.

2

3

I finally got to Gwacheon National Science Museum, after planning 2 times to get there but failed. The science museum is really big. I took 2-3 hours to complete the main building and some of the outdoor areas. I still couldn’t finish the whole indoor & outdoor area.

Woke up with a diarrhea so end up staying at home the whole day. caught up with my US drama and Korean drama. now watch baseball match again, live from Youtube:P

Gyeongju: 19th to 21st July

By the time we got to Gyeongju, Wei Fang and I were too tired so we waited in the guesthouse for Doreen and Zhuwei to come back. We ended up talking till 2am before we went to sleep. The next day we visited Bulguksa Temple and Shilla Millennium Park. Shilla Millennium Park took up too much of our energy due to the heat, so we went back to the guesthouse to rest for the evening, before heading out for dinner. We ate Dububossam which was tofu and steamed pork. It was very delicious and filling too ((: After that we waited for night to fall, so that we can see the night scene of Cheomseongdae Observatory and Anapji Pond.

It really seems like it can pass off as a village that Family Outing would go for filming (: & the convenient store closes at 6 plus. We even had to request the staff to help us cook dinner, as they closed quite early 😛 So we were in the room from 8pm onwards and had to entertain ourselves… at least there is a TV. haha (:

Ritz Carlton Seoul: 22nd to 23rd July

Thanks to my yiyi, I got a chance to stay at a hotel during my exchange!! and it is Ritz Carlton somemore ^^ Because the pool closed early, I actually woke up early to go swimming. I met some ahjummas there, who seem to be following some regime. I was so amused. They were there almost till the end of my 1 hour swimming. Since yiyi came here on a business trip, we got to stay on a special floor and the breakfast was on the same floor, a special meal room for business exec.

[Travelling] 15th to 18th July

15th July

Today was another relaxing day, where Doreen, Wei Fang, Sim Ai and I went to the 63 building. As we were foreigners, we got extra discount and paid 30,000Won to visit 3 attractions in the 63 building. We went to the 63 Sea World, the 63 Sky Gallery and the 63 Wax Museum. After that we walked to see the Hangang River for a short while only, as the view was very foggy.

16th July

Wanted to go to Gwacheon National Science Museum but wasn’t feeling up for it, so ended up slacking at home. Completed my blogging (which I am doing right now :P) while rewatching some old Korean dramas like Goong, Goong S and Boys Over Flowers.

Managed to plan our remaining days which actually didn’t seem very long. Suddenly I am looking forward to returning home, despite the hot weather in Singapore.

17th July

Today is a chillax day too. We went to Itaewon to eat brunch at The Flying Pan Blue. Omg!! Eggs Benedict ^^ so long since I last ate it. Super miss it (:

1

After that we went to Seoul Station to change our train tickets for our 4 days trip to Busan – Gyeongju – Andong. Once we changed our tickets and enquired about O & V trains, we made our way to a Jimjibang. Idk the name though haha.

2

The last thing on our agenda was shopping~~ How can we not shop after relaxing our body?!?! haha! Got the last few stuff for my aunt and cousin. Now left with 2 more bags for my yiyi’s nieces ^^

18th July

Today’s only attraction is KOFIC Namyangju Studios. The only studio that has the Panmunjom for movies and dramas filming North Korea in their show. Enjoy the photos.

[Travelling] 11th – 14th July

11th July

We woke up at 5am for our DeMilitarised Zone tour. The other girls overslept so we were slightly late for the tour, but we still managed to rush in time. It took us an hour ride to get to Paju city from Seoul. From there, we went straight to the Joint Security Area (a.k.a JSA).

We had to switch bus due to security reasons, before we could arrive at Panmunjom. We could only take photos of the North Korea side due to military reasons. Can see that only the South Korea side has guards standing at the blue conference rooms and they are standing in Taekwondo stance, to show that they are in an attack-ready position. Most of the guards are also half blocked by the blue houses, in case of an attack.

1

2

3

The microphone along the table is aligned with the concrete slab outside of the blue conference room, which represents the 38th parallel dividing South Korea and North Korea.

4

5

North Korea Propaganda Village, which has a 150m tall flag tower. The flag is so heavy that it can only fly if there is a really really strong gush of wind blowing. From the pictures, North Korea looks very bare as there is mostly no trees on the top of the mountains and the land looks baren. A not-so-fun fact that the UN Military Police guide told us was that every 8 mins, there are countless North Korean military aiming weapons towards Seoul >.<

6

7

Another thing that the UN Military Police mentioned was that some of the windows and the doors are painted on so as to portray that there is people living in the village. Well there are people living in the village (those working in the Kaoseong Industrial, a joint production from South Korea with North Korean workers) but not the entire village.

8

Memorial for the Axe murders, where North Korean guards ambush South Korean guards when they were trying to ax down a tree that is blocking their view.

9

Bridge of No Return! After the Korean war, both sides ‘exchange’ their POWs. Once the POWs makes the choice and cross the bridge, they can no longer return, hence the name of the bridge. Means once I cross that bridge … I will no longer be safe >.<

10

11

12

The whole atmosphere at the JSA was so solemn, I barely said anything for fear of something that would happen.

The next place we visited was the Dorasan Station.

“Not the last station from the South. But the first station to the North.”

I guess I won’t need to take the DMZ train since I have visited the station le. The interior of the station also had custom clearance stations being built, in hope that the unification would occur soon.

13

14

15

16

The meal totally reminds me of dorm food. Rice in one portion, dishes in the top portions, only the soup portion is taken over by the bibimbap bowl instead. The food taste not bad and it was buffet style so I was full.

17

After lunch, we went to Dora observatory to use the binoculars to look into North Korea’s Landscape. They showed us a video, so when I went out I started spotting for the statues and buildings.

20

If you can see closely on the hill, there is a white spot. This is the max my camera can zoom in, while standing at behind the yellow line. The white spot is Kim Jung Il’s statue in North Korea. The famous one that most people would visit and bow to pay their respects. There is many many more statues other than that one.

18

19

This picture below is an example of how North Koreans built the tunnels. The yellow paint symbolises the area that they place the dynamites to bomb open the tunnel. The black paint was what the North Koreans used to bluff the South Koreans that they were digging a coal mine for profits. To date, there is 4 tunnels found and the third tunnel is the nearest to Seoul.

24

25

After our DMZ tour finished, we took the train to Gangchon in hopes of riding the ATV bikes. However it was close to 6pm and we thought they close at 6pm, so we didn’t go in the end. We headed to Myeongdong instead so that Rynn could change money. Despite all this, seeing celebrities totally makes up for it! haha! We got to see Kim Gura and Defcon hosting some show, which I have no idea what it is. Too bad I can’t speak Korean.

26

After that we headed to Sinchon to catch Transformer: Age of extinction 4D. The plot sucks but 4D makes up for it. While watching the show, Rynn and I kept questioning parts that don’t connect, and at the same time being amazing at the 4D effects CGV has 😛

27

28

29

12th July

Decided to skip out on Nami Island and Petite France, so I slept till 11am. Caught up on my dramas and watch Transformer 1-3, fast forward version ^^

Met Rynn at Gangchon station and headed to the ATV stall. Only after we asked, then we realised that they closed at 9pm 😛 We rode from 5pm-6.30pm and we only rode on the dry grounds. Didn’t really want to go to the wet terrains as my shoe was new.

We took the itx back to Cheongnyangni, hoping to skip a few stops instead of waiting for the normal train. But we got caught and need to pay for the itx >.< We tried to get refund at the station, but they couldn’t understand English and kept insisting that they were right. They just took our card and gave us the refund money without explaining properly to us. They even asked us to go to the information counter to ask someone who spoke English. We went there and no one spoke English. We wanted to give them an easier way out and ask for someone who spoke Chinese. The reply they gave was that English is an International Language and Chinese is not, so no need to find a Chinese speaking person. The best part still… was them asking us to go to Singapore Embassy to get our refund of 2000+ won.

13th July

Went to Tongin Market in the morning with the other girls and Zhuwei’s mum & aunt. Another satisfying meal 😛

In the afternoon, I went to meet Rynn to go to Lotte World.  We took the rides that I didn’t take the other time with Gwen. Okie there was some rides that I sat on my own as Rynn wasn’t feeling well.

14th July

Today is a chillax day. Went for Brunch at Hankuk Foreign Studies University with Doreen and Wei Fang. The Brunch is so nice but a little expensive though ^^

8

Spent the afternoon doing some packing, in preparation to pass my stuff to Yiyi to bring back as she has some spare luggage space. Had our last dinner with Rynn at our favourite ahjumma store before sending her off to take a taxi to the airport.

[Travelling] Jeju Trip: 6th to 10th July

Jeju, Here I Come !!!!!!!

On Monday, I waited with Zhuwei to pick her mum and her aunt up from Incheon Airport and headed to Gimpo Airport to catch our night flight to Jeju-do. By the time we reached the guesthouse, I was tired due to my cough so I bath and slept.

The next day, we made French toast for breakfast while waiting for the tour guide to arrive. As it was the only sunny day (as of the morning when we checked the weather forecast), our tour guide advised us to go to the outdoor activities on the first day. So we headed to Mangang Lava Cave first. It was really warm outside, but once we climbed down it was really cold. Moreover it rained the day before, so the cava was like drizzling  throughout our journey. We walked for like 1Km to get to the stone statue and back another 1Km to get back to the entrance.

1

2

We visited a coastal beach which I have no idea what the name is 😛 But it was rather scenic with one side of the sky shinning brightly and another side gloomy with clouds. We went for lunch so that we would have energy to climb up the Sunrise Peak.

3

Though the distance up the Sunrise Peak was only half the distance up my school to my dorm, it was all stairs and not slope so it was more tiring for me. Lucky got Rynn to keep me going, if not I wouldn’t have gone up that mountain again >.<4

5

We made our last stop at the Folk Village but I still felt the previous folk village that my tour bought me to was much better. This one was just a small area as there are people still leaving in the village. The Korean government gives them free education from young and takes care of their well being. They only do not pay for the modern renovations that the villagers want to include in their houses. 6

7

Our tour guide dropped us off at the Jungang market, where we managed to buy the Jeju chocolate and rice crunch. We also got to eat the famous black pork which taste the same and look the same as normal pork.

On Tuesday, our tour guide brought us to the Pony Farm to see cute ponies(: There are white ones, brown ones and black ones!

8

As the weather was still sunny, we managed to see the Cheonjiyeon Waterfalls. However it was flooded with China tourists too, so a lot of our photos had China tourists in it or them refusing to move out of our photo 😛 The weather in Jeju was really warm, so I had to keep fanning myself to cool myself down haha.

9

10

11

After lunch, we headed to the Teddy Bear Museum ^^ Another round of Teddy bear ~~~ Yipee ((: We would have a fun time taking photos if the aircon was switched on properly >.< I took most of the photos quickly and then focus on fanning myself. There is really a lot a lot of teddy bears around.

12

13

There is even a whole cupboard of Winnie The Pooh bears ^^ OMG !!!!!!!!!! My heaven ❤

14

15

16

17

18'

Our last attraction for the day was O’sulloc Tea Museum. It was really small, so we headed to the store and got quite a lot of tea back. I brought cold green tea sticks, strawberry tea bags & caramel tea bags. I also got to eat the famous Green Tea Swiss Roll. But it was full of cream and only the sponge cake was green tea. I think I will go to the O’sulloc shops in Seoul and try the black swiss cake, which is filled with green tea cream in the center (: We went to the Innisfree shop as well but I wasn’t an innisfree fan, so Rynn and I headed outside to take photos with the tea plantation instead.

19

20

On Wednesday, our last tour day, there was a passing typhoon that was hitting Japan. So we had to go all the indoor attractions. Our tour guide had to drive really carefully as he kept holding on the steering wheel and turning it such that the car does not get “blown” off our course. He was kept calm so I believe he had drove in a  typhoon before (:

We visited the Alive Museum. Rynn and I took a really long time as we were taking photos with almost every piece of art. Hehe. We had cheesecake for lunch as there was no nice abalone porridge nearby and on the way to our next location.

Our second last attraction was Locadio drama set, where they rebuilt some parts of the filming sets for some dramas. We spent a really long time trying all the different traditional costume for the various status in the palace. After we finish trying all the clothings, they place was in a bit of a mess. Haha but we also didn’t know how to put the stuff back as the other tourists also tried the clothings and left it dangling everywhere.

2014-07-09 14.01.30

We finally got to try Jeju’s abalone porridge, which was okie to me. I am not really a fan of abalone so it was just okie for me. After dinner, we went to watch Nanta Jeju. We kept on laughing all the way. The actors even interacted with the audience really well. It was super worthed it (:

2014-07-09 16.49.52

As the typhoon was still strong, we went to a convenience stall to grab our dinner and went back to the guesthouse to make eggs as well. Not bad, given that it  was my first few times cooking eggs 😛

2014-07-09 20.03.04

We flew back on 10th July in the morning. Wei Fang and I moved some of our stuff to Urban Camp and rested till night. That night, I went to watch CATS musical (:
